  • I'm going to talk to Al this week, I'll share your great comments with him. He is an awesome human being. He doesn't get around like he did in the 70's. His knees bother him, but he is a man of real character.

  • Got his autograph in 1973 while he played for Pittsburgh. Good old #16, Belongs in the hall of fame,

  • How come this man is not in the HOF? He's got the numbers.

  • Life long Pirate fan, so glad i came across this interview, I admire Al Oliver very much,

  • Al Oliver and Darryl Strawberry hit the two hardest balls I've ever seen. Oliver a single in '80 off Mike Norris. The ball left the infield without a rotation on it! (A knuckleball off of Oliver's bat, basically). Strawberry in '82 with Jackson; a liner that must've been doing over 100 mph, easily.

  • Great Player and man. From a Reds Fan who saw him play during the 1970's.

  • Al Oliver, one of the great figures in Baseball from a time when it was still about the game.

  • Thank you for posting this.
