Always wondered if my 2004 Mazda 6s (v6) could keep up with a mid-90's GT. Both are roughly the same HP (215 for the GT, 220 for the 6) and weight (3200 for the GT, 3300 for the 6). Although mine is an auto and probably has less torque. Hmm....

@Z28inNC Hell yeah there is not a driver in the world that can shift a manuel trans as fast as a automatic hands down.

@odessaboy Well I don't know who you race but Its pretty much a proven fact with equal drivers that the non pi mustangs are still faster than the 4.0. They make their power lower in the rpm have like 50ft/lbs more torque and weigh less. They also run better stock 1/4 mile times. And the 96's are much faster off the line with a decent driver. They make their torque very low in the powerband.

@NitroGadvRules I've only raced one 96, which had mods, that kept up with my old 2006 v6. Mine was an automatic, too. That means every single one that I raced, which was probably four or five, had to be crappy.

@NitroGadvRules actually the Trans AM GTA(89, I think) was the fastest production car in America. But yeah, Fbodies where heavy as hell compared to a foxbody

@odessaboy crappy drivers, the non-pi 4.6 is still much faster than a 4.0l mustang. I have a 2001 mustang bullitt gt.

@Z28inNC the 80s fox bodies were faster stock that the 80's f-bodies. But yeah ls1 vs 4.6 is pretty bad. Still the 4.6's saving grace is that they like boost.
