Planning to tow a trailer with your 2008 Saturn Outlook? We installed the custom T One Wiring Harness which provides a flat four pole trailer connector and video taped it so you could see what is required. As Chris illustrates for us with a bit of care you can prepare your Outlook and install this custom harness. Before you know it you will be hooking up your trailer and heading off on your next adventure.

The first step is to remove the taillight housings, the connection points are behind here on both sides. You want to be careful when removing them to be sure not to break the locking caps on the back when you pull it out. This particular one came out pretty easily, but a lot of them do not so pry a little bit then pull away. This is the connector we are going to be plugging the T-harness into, we want to push in the locking tab on the side here to release it. Now we will plug in the T-connector. Here on the drivers side you can see we have a loom here that is for the ground. We can probably attach that right here, we are going to drill a hole and set it in using a self tapping screw. You do want to make sure there is nothing behind here before you drill so you do not drill into any components.

Now that we have secured the ground, and made our initial connection here, we want to route the green wire with the connector as well as the four pole down through the hole between the body and the bumper. There is a hole you can see there, it is going to have to drop down into a tight space, so I am going to use a piece of wire here to route it down through first and tape our wires to it. After routing the wires down and through, I am going to re-connect the drivers side taillight housing. Back under the vehicle now, we need to route the green wire over the exhaust and over to the other side. We definitely want to keep this wire away from the exhaust pipe that is here. We are going to let that hang for the time being. We are going to route the four pole as well. The four pole is going to stay under the vehicle as well, you can tie it off like so, and zip tie the excess underneath here. They also provide a partial bracket that you can purchase, part # 118144, which will allow you to have a bracket that will come down this way that the four pole will attach to and give it a cleaner look. From there I am going to connect the passenger side connectors to the passengers side taillight using the piece of fish wire again to make it easier to pull it up through the space between the vehicle and the bumper. We have the taillight assembly back on now, we are going back up underneath the vehicle and fasten up all the loose wires to make sure they are not around anything hot or can be dragged or grabbed in any way. We went and secured all the loose wires, you can actually push the green and four pole wires up behind the bumper flange here, and secure them that way. After that your installation is complete, make sure you test your connections to make sure everything is working properly.
