AV-8B Harrier Demonstration

2008 Joint Services Open House
Andrews AFB, Maryland
Saturday May 17, 2008

IN THIS VIDEO, watch as this Harrier is put through its paces in a very dynamic demonstration over Andrews AFB. The aircraft is from VMA-231, the Ace of Spades, who are operated from MCAS Cherry Point, North Carolina, and under the direction of MAG-32.

Like what you've seen? Well, if you are interested in purchasing DVDs of specific aircraft and/or of airshows, interested in anything and everything related to airshows (where the jet teams will show up, all airshow performers, airshow reports from airshows I have attended, previews of airshows I will be attending, etc.), a much more easier to navigate "version" of all of my videos, and/or everything there is related to aviation - including spotting guides to my favorite airports and military bases and aircraft factfiles, please take time to check out Steve's Airshow World at http://www.stevesairshow.com .

  • Thank you for the video, Cool, and a good job!

  • Shenanigans... It's a single seat Jet, so unless you were sitting in his lap it never happened!.. The only two seaters are the trainers!

  • its completely possible to get a ride in one of those, maybe not a civilian but marines; absolutely. two people in my shop have gotten rides from vmat-203's c.o.. he used to give rides as a re-enlistment incentive or if you win the marine of the year or marine nco of the year. im in 231 and ive never heard of a two seater prototype but ive absolutely heard and seen with my own eyes non pilot marines getting back seat rides and low and high powers.

  • Even the MiG 29 OVT can't fly BACKWARDS.

  • Still calling Shenanigans... The prototypes were made in the '60s and are now either destroyed or in a boneyard... As I said the only Two seaters were the trainers, I I highly doubt any "Instructor" would be willing to risk their military career by taking a civilian on a joy ride.

  • naw dude, they had some prototype ones that never made it, they were the 2 seaters. But in the end they only made it a single.

  • kinda, the +G-forces hurt like crap but the -G-forces are amazing...if you ever get the chance...ALWAYS pilot it, never be co-pilot with a caffinated uncle as the pilot...

  • cool!

  • MCAS Cherry Point is right down the street from my house :]
