This song invokes memories of the performances I gave as a young boy, and later as a young man playing my Steirische Harmonika at the Pabst Brewing Company's beer pub, the Sternewirt, a place that we Germans all referred to as Die Alte Sternewirt. In those days many a Pabst executive would drop in at the end of brewery tours and join the public crowd for the bottomless glasses of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer, unpasteurized and so fresh and crisp that one could only surmise that it was a foretaste of the great feast that we might enjoy in Heaven. There was singing in both German and English and a true spirit of that famous Pabst gemütlichkeit prevailed. This song was originally performed at the Sternewirt for Pabst executives and employees. There are only a few places left like the old Sternewirt in the world, sadly most are in South Germany and Lower Austria. It was truly a special place.

  • How could you give such a calm reply to this bigoted arsehole.

  • I did call him a schnoodle noodle! Anyway, thanks for your support!!! Karl

  • PABST IS AMERICAN! NOT NO NAZI SHIT!

  • I am not sure what you mean...are you referring to Jakob Best, who was born in Landgraviate of Hesse-Darmstadt and Johann Gottlieb Friedrich Pabst born in Prussia? Or are you referring to Germans in general? Pabst was indeed an American Brewery and is brewed in America, but was founded by Germans and run by Germans for over 130 years and, I don't recall Pabst having any National Socialist ties, indeed they were anti-Hitler and condemned the US Socialist Bund. Wie schade, schnoodle noodle! Karli

  • @TOMGPII Your remark is offensive, ill informed and totally typical of the insular world that you Americans seem to inhabit.I would just like to register my disgust as a citizen of today’s Europe. We, in the UK, were at war with Germany but we have the basic intelligence to know that the Third Reich was an unfortunate episode in modern history. It does not mean that a particular Beer or any other aspect of German history or culture can justifiably be tarred with one brush and labelled as Nazi.

  • Well put, and we thank you! Lange leben Britannische!
