Hi everyone!
Here is my version of Paganini`s Caprice no. 24.played on the Japanese Shamisen. It is still not complete and any feedback/advice is absolutely welcome!
Sorry about the abrupt ending. My camera`s memory card ran out just as I was about to hit the last note but I figured everyone knows what that note is anyway so what the heck... I can`t really play beyond that point anyway.
Someday I hope to be able to play the whole thing.

I am also working on Chopin`s Fantasy Impromptu on the Shamisen.

Anyway Hope you will all enjoy this!

  • what a plectrum!

  • All the notes were notes. That's better than I've been doing so far.

  • jellyfish have been dying in large numbers off ocean coasts lately.

    Oh, oops! DId you forget?

    Darn. you did, didn`t you...

  • Yes, the original shamisen tuning, (honchoushi) still used for some pieces in the Tsugaru min'yo repertoire and also as the primary tuning in the nagauta style, is root-4th-octave (of root). E.g., C-F-C, D-G-D, etc.
