@repawnd but they (girls) tend to weight less... and i think that was a strong requirement here...

Get a professional cyclist, don't use a girl! No offense but they just do not have the same power to weight ratio as a man does.

I think plastic drive shafts with bevel gears at the propshaft will be way way more reliable and lighter then chains.

Chain drive. Why not kevlar belt drive. much lighter and hard to come off a pully Vs a sprocket with teeth.
