"What is an Emo."

Emo is short for emotional and emotive and originated from the punk rock scene in Washington DC in the Mid 80's. The term Emo is also synonymous with such phrases as "No one understands me," and "with all the pain and suffering in the world what is the point of even living!?!"

Emo's are also known for wearing tight jeans, straight black hair with long bangs swooped over one or both eyes, tight T-shirts with rock bands or designs on them, canvas sneakers, skate shoes, thick black horn-rimmed glasses, and studded belt buckles.
The term emo, has been associated with a stereotype that includes being emotional, sensitive, shy, introverted, or angsty It is also associated with depression, self-injury, and suicide.

First, i am not emo, i wear tight jeans, long bangs swooped over, shirts of rock bands. Also I wear black colors sometimes and converse, on some days, I put this look together all at once. I am shy to strangers, I am emotional when i get my feelings hurt and sensitive. Maybe to you this sounds emo, but last time I checked I want a pink beetle, i watch kardashians, i giggle at the car lashes and american eagle and hollister are pretty awesome. No one is emo. Emo is a music genre that is, yes, meant to have super emotional and sad lyrics and melodies, but it is only a MUSIC GENRE. Nothing else. It is not a clothing style or someone's persona. It is a music genre and that's it.
