I know many Catholics outraged over this situation. They desire to respect the pope, but how can they when he is guilty of collusion, that of trying to hide a crime from the authorities.

If the Benedict had any love of his religion, he would realize he should step down for the good of it and face what ever charge would be cast upon him. Alas, such would take strength and courage to do, never mind the humility of placing some ideal above personal ego. This Benedict has lost much for his faith.

@stpaulfan Stay firm against what exactly? That people shouldn't be held accountable to the law of collusion to hide a criminal offense because of their position within an institution? The charge is against the man, Benedict XVI, not the position of pope. The man should face the same charges any other would for attempting to hide a crime.

I believe Catholics are in support of charging pedophiles and those that would sexually mollest children, no matter what position they have.
