High density polyethylene, or HDPE for short, is one of the most pervasive plastic types. It has an excellent resistance to chemicals, making it the go-to plastic for detergents and cleaners.

  • Dioxins are another class of potentially harmful compounds that have been incorrectly linked to the use of plastic food wraps and containers in microwaves. The FDA states, "With regard to dioxins, we have seen no evidence that plastic containers or films contain dioxins and know of no reason why they would." Dioxins are only produced during combustion at extremely high temperatures (generally 700 degrees Fahrenheit or more).

  • yeah....but how do we know its SAFE for human or even our pets? WE DONT! Plastics leech toxins into our foods, drinks, and personal care items.....I think I'll stick with the old fashioned packaging, glass.

  • @OurLordLennon Thanks for your post. Glass is an excellent alternative to plastic. Nothing is perfectly safe. For example, the likelihood of cutting yourself on glass vs plastic is much higher. I just posted a statement from the FDA about chemical leaching from plastic on the HDPE video page. And here's a link that has some great information on plastic safety.

  • @conpakvideos I can send this link to anyone else that would like to read it. Apparently, I can't post URLs in the YouTube comments.

  • @OurLordLennon Many of your points could undermine the public's trust of the FDA. This research on plastic, however, can be validated by independent non-governmental agencies like the American Chemistry Council (an industry trade association). Yes there are some plastics out there that can be harmful if they are used incorrectly, but there are literally hundreds of different kinds of plastics out there. Not all plastics are the same.

  • @conpakvideos But who trusts the FDA? Or ANY US governMENTAL group today. hutting down organic farms & promoting BIG AGRI GMO's.States NO link of autism ETC to the poison MERCURY laced vaccines?BIG PHARMA poison will cure what ails ya,OR KILL U! When herbs & hemp, cannabis whole foods CURES w/NO ADVERSE effects.OH &HEMP CAN REPLACE 90% of the PLANETS PETROLEUM USE BIODEGRADABLE HEMP, but illegal while booze & tobacco is legal?JAILS FILLED w/pot smokers while govt corruption is rampid.NO THANKS!

  • According to the FDA, "While it is true that chemicals used to make plastics can leach into food from plastic containers and films, all of the regulated chemicals used to make plastics for food contact, including DEHA, have been reviewed by FDA and have been found safe for their intended use."
