Bottle Feeding Newborn Puppy

This is video of us bottle feeding Summer's littlest puppy for the first time. He's only 3 ounces, which is less than half the size of his chubbier siblings! As you can see, he has no problem nursing, he's just not big enough to fight off his bigger siblings when the whole litter is nursing off of Mommy.

Thank you Orange County Pocket Pets for saving this Mama dog from the shelter just days before she delivered her puppies. She is thriving in our foster home!

We are only bottle feeding as a supplement to the puppy nursing off of his mommy. It's extremely important for newborns to nurse off of their Mama's as much as possible for the first couple weeks of life, so they can receive important antibodies and nutrients. Once this puppy is strong enough to prevent the bigger puppies from stealing his nipples, we'll stop bottle feeding him.
