  • "Standard Program $99

    Enterprise Program $299"

You actually have to pay to develop software for apple. And you only get 70% of the apps you sell. In addition there's probably a better app than yours in the appstore, which is free.

  • Charging to develop is how you weed out those who would otherwise produce garbage. If you have to pay to develop, you tend to have a stake or incentive so to speak. Also, you fail to mention that to sell your app you don't pay for marketing, you don't pay for bandwidth, payment processing. So yeah, 70/30 split is more than fair.

  • When apple market your application for you, you also lose the opportunity to influence on the marketing itself. The only way to do this, is to make an application that is really good, which is a good thing. But with this in mind, you would assume that poor applications sort themselves out. Saying that a development fee would do the same thing, is just not true because wealthy people (people that can afford a mac, iPod and the entrance fee) will just as easy produce poor applications.

  • Apple marketing the apps has nothing to do with a devs ability to influence the market. Also, I was not referring to the bad apps as I am well aware that even the best devs can and do develop crap, I was referring to the actual developer. If Apple did not charge, everyone and their cousin would be "trying" to make apps. This move by Apple helps "weed out" the people who can't write code, etc.

BTW. Wealthy people aren't the only ones who purchase and own Mac's and iPods.

  • I'm using Safari app as the porn app.

But they should actual allow porn on app store. Allow porn, cause porn is a important part of our life. We need the thing they already give us, and we need sex. These iDevices are really good, but only the lack is lack a vagina or a cock, so they should allow porn to balance this lack, and that will makes our devices more talented. If they did good, then some of us may even not need boy/girl friend, that will help reduce the number of human on the earth.

  • wow, its weird how they never knew how huge this would be. one of those things in life which is just hard to explain!

  • Guys, I found out how to get a free ITunes code!!

The days before Angry Birds, a simpler time...

  • @Saroku12 before back in 2007 you had to use web 2.0 applications inside the iPhone safari browser before the native app store apps in 2008.

  • @Saroku12 Yep.

  • @micgol does that mean that in 2007 every iphone owner had exactly the same apps, no more or less?

  • @Saroku12 They weren't. There was no way to install any 3rd party app before the App Store.
