Very similar sound and format to "Big Town Boy" (also 1964) by Canadian Shirley Matthews, and (I believe) produced by Bob Crewe.

@reichardtaj ...I agree, but England's "Northern Soul" scene has a penchant for horribly obscure tracks, many of which have nothing to do with "Soul" music, as we know it. The "Mike" side should have been a huge hit...very possibly it got lost in the hysteria for The Beatles, since it was released just about the same time that "I Want To Hold Your Hand", "She Loves You" and their flip sides were storming American charts.

Thanks for posting this great, truly "lost" Oldie. In Baltimore, we had the good taste to send this to #16 (on WITH) in mid-February 1964. It doesn't appear to have done anything, elsewhere...a pity, it's such a great record, in every respect. It does exist on CD, albeit on a "bootleg".

@Delfan1961 A great tune. I still don't understand why all of the attention is given to the flip. It's a turkey compared to the A-side in my opinion.
