Try looking for just "John the conqueror" root. The "high" part is only used to distinguish it from the other 2 "john" roots, low john and little john. The most commong name for the root in this video is John the Conqueror root, minus the "high".

Thank you so much Flora! You are a blessing.

Love the video, well done and thank you. :)

Can u grow High John from the root is it is soaked in moonwater for a couple days?

I know this was posted a while ago now, but High John the Conquerer root most certainly has a distinctive and fairly strong smell. I have several with me right now, no questions.
Additionally, Cat Yronwode gives her recipe for High John oil on page 111 of Hoodoo Herb and Root magic and there is nothing but the root (in two forms) and vegetable oil. Absolutely no cedar chips.

This was a very good video and explanation. I blessed mine during eclipse in a sacred circle . . . the stone was an interesting touch.
-
That is not true . . . it is important that you have the "High" as this particular root comes from West Africa.
-
I got mine from Lucky Mojo and they definitely have a smell.
-
This is true . . . I worry when I read that we have someone using dye and cedar chips to pretend . . . why do that? The smell is a bit similar to the smell of old money . . .
-
what's the name of that cleanser stone?
-
@CharmingPixieFlora But... you mention in the beginning of the video that you got it from Lucky Mojo...(?)

i have a high the conqueror root, and i have agreen mojo bag,but i dont know how to make it workand yeah i have money drawining oil and some other things help please!
How To Make John The Conqueror Root Oil
Items needed:
John the Conqueror Root (Ipomoea Jalapa)
Almond Oil
Purple dye
Cedar Chips
Place the root and cendar chips in a bottle and top with the oil you have dyed purple. Set aside for a month or more until the oil is scented by the cedar chips. (It gives it an "earthy" smell. The root has no smell.) Pour into individual bottles that contain at least one piece of root. Voila! You now have John the Conqueror Root oil.

High John has a very distinct and strong odor. If your High John root is odorless, than it isn't High John.

I think there is some confusion, John the Conqueror roots have no noticable odor when dry. Cat Yronwode, the owner of LuckyMojo, uses cedar chips to scent her John the Conqueror root items and mighe even dress the roots prior to sale. Smell the roots again. If they smell like cedar then they have been dressed with oil.
(FYI: I have several whole roots. The largest one I keep as a pocket piece.)

I beg to differ....regardless of your place of purchase, True High John Root has an odor. I did not get the roots I have from Lucky Mojo. I got them from another herbal/root shop online.
