I filmed the food dish in Diane's hermit crab home, then edited out the portions where nothing much was happening. When I was finished, I sped up the video by 10x. Hermit crabs are not very exciting, usually, but this short video shows you several of the little guys stopping by for a quick bite. The dish contains a variety of goodies for them, including peanut butter, dried fruits and a mix of several brands of hermit crab pellets, meal and flakes. There are Purple Pinchers, Ecuadorians and Ruggies. The tank is a low-profile 15-gallon model with a glass lid. There are heaters to maintain approximately 77-80 degrees Fahrenheit and the humidity is kept between 70-80 percent. The substrate is moist sand. They are given salt and fresh water for drinking/bathing. There are numerous Babylon, Turbo and other shells for them to change into (they enjoy checking them out and seem to have species preferences). They have a hiding area and large coral structure for climbing. There's also a non-rot (polymer) mat attached to the back for climbing.
Sadly, they spend most of their time digging catacombs and molting, so of her 18 crabs, we usually see only half a dozen at any given time.
Hey I kno tht paint shells are bad and I'm not buying any anymore I wanna do better with mi knew hermies but where can I buy unpainted shells????

@CGKPRocks I have been successful buying shells from Joann Craft stores. They come in assortment bags and most shells in those bags aren't useful, so you wind up with tons of shells that you don't need. But they're cheap, so it's not so bad. Remember that if you have Purple Pinchers, they prefer turbos and Ecuadorians prefer Babylon shells.

@Shannie327 Yes, it's running at 10x normal speed. They really like the peanut butter. I saw another person on YouTube recommending it and ours just love the stuff.
