  • I like it. Very cool. The verticle video would be awsome if Youtube supported that format. I'd like to see more of the stands in use, and more photos from shoots with the stands.

  • @TexPhoto, many thanks. I've got some pictures of light setups from jobs on location, might do a blog post with them. I use these stands in 90% of all my shoots now, the best thing is to be able to bring so many lights; even on small quick shoots I usually set 3-4 lights. I can carry 6 lights, stands, boxes, camera and lenses inside one big backpack.

  • nice work! thanks for sharing. also, what is this music piece called?

  • Thanks!

    The music piece is "Arabesque" by Debussy.

  • hehe... vertical video...yes, go for it!:) I have some questions related to the umbrella-box: can you mount 4 of those next to each other like in the video, without creating 4 different shadows? If so, how many boxes and how many flashes would you use for a full body shot of one person (using your canon flashes)? Thanks for sharing Peter and keep up the good work!

  • Yep, 4 boxes next to each other gives one shadow. For full body, it all depends on the look you want; one box far away for harder light, four closer for supersoft. If you use four for full length body, they need to be higher than in the picture: center should be above waist, maybe about chest height. /P

  • Only a photographer records videos in portrait mode. :)

  • I like your videos. Maybe it's the music, maybe it's the mono, maybe it's because you are v. relaxed.

  • Much thanks; maybe a bit too relaxed/punchy in the second one, due to the flu I had. Cheers dude /P

  • Just want to let you know there's a following-up video that shows how to build these more in detail;

    It's also here as a video answer.

  • Ha :-) no, I'm not jocking :-) Being an amateur when it comes to film, I can have fun doing stupid things like vertical video.
