Ignoring warnings to stay away, Hilton and Amelia, a New Orleans couple displaced by Hurricane Katrina, decided to return to the Big Easy and see their destroyed home first hand. Upon arrival, they quickly realize that things will never be the same. Everything they owned and the life they once lived is gone and when their car breaks down they find themselves trapped in a desolate wasteland. With cell service down and no help for miles tensions begin to rise and ultimately the couple turns on each other. A fight ensues ending with Hilton storming off to find help on his own. Having no luck, He returns to find Amelia gone. With night falling, Amelia missing, and no help to be found, Hilton must brave the inky darkness and all that comes with it to find his wife in this lawless urban apocalypse. Hurricane Katrina changed his life forever, but what happened next corrupted his soul. From PartsUnknown Films is proud to present our first feature film Trapped in Katrina. Written and Directed by Patrick Marrero First time Writer/Director Patrick Marrero is the true definition of art imitating life. Exiled to Texas after Hurricane Katrina he illegally ventured into his flood ravaged hometown where he was inspired to write this story. Marrero then financed the film with of the proceeds from his flood insurance policy and shot in and around the flooded out neighborhoods of New Orleans. He even used his own home, which sustained over 8ft of water, as a set. The cast and crew are all New Orleaneans and each one had their own personal losses due to the storm. Trapped in Katrina is a psychological rollercoaster with twist and turns bound to thrill audiences.
By the way, the trailer is terrific! As is the whole film. Can't wait to get the DVD.

Seems like somebody went to too many Katrina anniversary celebrations yesterday. This is a drama, created by life-long New Orleans residents. You want exploitation? Go find a CNN crew wandering around the 9th Ward looking for po black folk to put on the national news. That's exploitation!
