Housetraining is NOT difficult with these dogs - I've had a ton of experience with the breed and currently own 2. If you keep your dog/puppy on a schedule and do the training correctly, it's a breeze. When we rescued a 6 year old bitch who had lived outdoors her entire life, abused and neglected, we had her fully housebroken in just 2 days. All of my other Bassets were also easy to potty train - they are smart than they look or sometimes act.
