  • jclitke13, other than the screw driver and ratchet, I think i spent $2-3 on the toggle and $2-3 on the butt splices. You'll need pliers to clamp down the butt splices.

  • Hoodmex: Cutting the yellow wire will cause the theft light to stay on. If you install a toggle you can turn the theft light on and off.

  • Hoodmex21: You can just cut the yellow wire and leave it. If you do, the "Theft System" light will always stay on. If you install the toggle you can toggle the theft system on and off.

  • Good ideas. I'm no mechanic or an electrician. I just found some directions and followed them. It worked well for me. If you find a better way, post your video.

  • Lixx, You're symptoms sound the same as what was happening with my Malibu. I think if you follow the directions in the video you should be fine. It'll take 30 45 min and a small ratchet set. Keep the car running and it's not that hard.

  • Thanks! Glad it helped.

  • Hello does this work on a 2000 impala with the same problem ????

  • how much did the toggle switch and everything else cost you? needing to do this soon to my '02 malibu

  • @sirbaugh 4 months,Ive been dealing with this for 2 years, and btw, the dexcool antifreeze chevy makes u use in these cars eats away at the hoses, had to have whole cooling system replaced after head gaskets blew,I wish someone would actually steal my car, have kept full coverage on it just b/c I need the roadside asst b/c I have been stranded so many times,my god I would give anything for a new car!

  • Man,I wish u were my neighbor,I REALLY need to do this,I am lost even tho ur instructions were good,I have no one to help me do this! Took it to mechanic he tied to sell me ANOTHER new ignition. UGH

  • Last year I lost my job b/c of this shitty theft light crap! I tried to explain to my boss why I kept on being late,b/c as u know it cant be predicted when it will do it! If I forgot to go start my car before work then most likely I would be 15 mins late for work. They dont understand unless they have the prob. I am sick of being stuck in a store parking lot at nite,I have now resorted to leaving my car running to grocery shop. Funny how this prob will eventually MAKE my car be stolen,ha right.

  • does getting a remote start fix the proplem????

  • BTW thanks I clicked
