  • @drmoonrat: I even have a hard time believing he weighed as much as 140 pounds. I'm not accusing BK of being scrawny, which he obviously was not - he was just very, very small-boned. (Just look at his wrists and ankles. This is particularly true when he was starting out in films in the late 1910's. For instance, in the "Butcher Boy" he looks as if he couldn't weigh more than 130 pounds soaking wet.

  • @MissGoldenDreams13 Yes, well he was very lean too. I mean he was a crazy athlete so I'm sure most of that weight too was just muscle mass. I myself am about 5'9 or 5'10 and I weigh at least 155, so to be only 130 and 4 to 5 inches shorter I can't imagin how small he must have been in real life.

  • drmoonrat: I could have sworn he was in the 5"4 to 5"5 range. I'm paraphrasing here, but in "Tempest in a Flat Hat" the author said something like, "He was 21 years old, 5"4 and 140 pounds..." Also, in "My Wonderful World of Slapstick" I recall Buster writing about his ill-fitting uniform during WWI, (to this effect) "Apparently nobody in the Army thought they would have anyone under 5"5..."

  • @MissGoldenDreams13 Yes, I think you are right!

  • He WAS short I (5'6")

  • @TheIMC8 Yeah, rather short. And all the villians in his movies were like 6'6"

  • Can you imagine meeting him, like those people did, casually, on the street, being able to shake his hand and look into those soulful eyes, tell him how great he is, thank him for all of the memories? I get goosebumps thinking about it.

  • this guy was a genius.

  • The footage of him in the park reminds us of how graceful and athletic the great legend was, and in every other clip you are riveted to that beautful face and those incredible eyes. Effortless charisma.
