Viipuri is ancient Finnish town founded in 1293. Castle is as old as the town is. Numerous of wars has been around Viipuri, the port of east and west. Last war was in world war 2 when russia attack to Finland. It was battle between Goljat and David. Finally russians stole Karelia and its towns includind Viipuri from us. Some day Viipuri and Karelia will be part of Finland again.

  • Vyborg is my native town. Except I don't like what Soviet troops did, I want Vyborg to remain Russian town now, because I don't want a new war here.

Vyborg is not more Finnish than it is Russian or Swedish

  • @KateeAngel If you study history of Viipuri (now Vyborg) then you will see it is finnish town. See all the old buildings there and find out that architectures were finnish.

  • @StatusFennica

If you know the history of Vyborg, you understand that it isn't only Finnish. It had been being Swedish for ~4 hundred years and Russian for ~1 hundred years before Finland was included into Russian Empire, and Vyborg - into Finland

  • @KateeAngel You must understand that whatever (Sweden/Russia) country under we have been we have always been Finnish people. If now Finland will overtake Russia would you ever believe if we say Moscow is Finnish town? No way. Viipuri really is made by finnish people, not by swedish or russian people. You must understand that finnish nation has always lived there (not now anymore) whatever country under we were. Assholes always tyrannize weaker. Shame on those countries.

  • @StatusFennica

    XDDD

    "Moskva" is finno-ugric name)))

Finnish history of town is not the reason to remove many people again. Many Russians live in this town now. My mother was born in Vyborg, I has been living in Vyborg for all my life. Our summerhouse is in Lebedevka (Honkaniemi).

Many Finnish people were removed from this land during the wars. But I don't want people who live here now to be removed like this

Changing of the borders cannot be painless

  • @KateeAngel Wow, I didnt know that about Moskva. Yes, wars are always a shame witch makes suffer for people.

  • Kuinka hieno kaupunki Viipuri olikaan Suomen kaudella. Kansainvälinen ja vilkas Karjalan keskus.

  • Despite I am russian, I completely agree with you! Thanks God that after the WWII Finland wasn't converted into 17th Soviet republic.

The war with Finland in 1939-40 was really a tragedy for finnish people and Stalin (I hope) is in HELL now because of his numerous crimes against not only his country but Finland too... Best regards from StPetersburg

  • @fearvt

you are wrong. Finns were not nazis.

  • @esprao \ Red army wont punish you nazi

  • @StatusFennica Im British, but my Mother and her sisters were born there.

  • @tupakki

In some situations, you are right, peace won't remain if borders won't be changed. Like in Ossetia or in Kosovo. But not on the Carelian Isthmus! Where do you see war or terror here?) I think (and other people here think) that it is peace))

  • @tupakki

If borders change, where will be many people who will not like it. Where'll be a scandal. I think it would be excessively and unnecessary.

The majority of "Russians " in Vyborg are Russians))

  • @KateeAngel I join to this conversation. If the lost Finnish areas would be returned to Finland, who would want to remove Russians from their homes? Finnish history and past is giving Finland right to demands its possessions back. Doesn't it? Many of these so called "Russians" in Vyborg are descendant of different nationality than Russians: Ukrainian, Belorussian etc. Why the current people of Vyborg can see the border change as an advantage for both countries, especially for people of Vyborg.

  • @pergustav52 Peace won't remain if borders won't be changed. For example both big countries in Asia have area demands: Japan and China. Towards Russia too even China has not officially demanded them. Russia has isolated itself by using the bully role in Europe. Baltic states have been seeking protection from EU and Nato. Does it make you to believe more in peace? If Russia would care about peace, they would return for example those areas back to Finland. Russia would win by those actions.

  • @KateeAngel The borders must never be changed, like between Germany- Poland. We have to look forward, an remain in peace. My name is Per Gustav Nilsen, Norwegian.

  • Ah what a wonderful city Viipuri was! A great marketplace, between the east and the west. So full of life, and so wealthy!

But look what it is now, when the russians got it.

Now its just a shade from its former glory. All the buildings have begun to crumble and streets became dirty and full of beggars under the soviet occupation.

Russia should be given a grave punishment for destroying that ancient culturally rich and materisticly rich once beautiful city!
