This is an Eagle CNC mill with Mach3 Smoothstepper USB motion controller and AC servos from Automation Direct. The Rapid of the machine is 500 IPM and the feed moves are being done at 70 IPM.

  • Is that stepper or servo?

  • This is a 1KW AC servo system.. :) Nothing like 1.3 Hp for the axis motors LOL

  • Thanks, I didn't think a stepper can do that.

    Perfect round too.

What kind of mill and controller?

  • it is a YCM40 with Mach3 From Artsoft..

  • @UKnick80 Since there is no hole in the middle it has to be started. There are 2 types of cuts, climb and conventional. Climb (probably what you see as ccw) is a more aggressive cut and maybe not as controllable/accurate as a conventional cut. It really all depends on the rigidity of the machine. The idea is to not waste time machining. Aggressively cut out waste and finish cut at the final pass. Saves tools too.

  • when you started milling the middle, why did you start clockwise then switch to CCW?
