90 Dead in Joplin Missouri After Deadliest American Tornado in 60 Years

The tornado has reportedly killed more than 85 people and the death toll is rising. The number of people injured is unknown. Cities in three other Midwestern states have also been hit drastically and at least one person died in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It has "cut the city in half," according to Fire Chief Mitch Randles, who estimated that 25% to 30% of Joplin has been damaged, affecting over 50,000 people.

Washington, 23 may (EFE).- Las autoridades de Joplin, en Misuri, se afanaban hoy en buscar supervivientes entre los escombros tras el paso de un devastador tornado que destruyó buena parte de la ciudad y causó la muerte de al menos 89 personas.

El tornado golpeó con precisión viviendas y edificios del centro de la ciudad, entre ellos un hospital que quedó prácticamente en ruinas.

Se trata, según algunos medios, del tornado más destructivo que se ha registrado en Estados Unidos desde la década de los años 50.

Durante el fin de semana, un frente de tormentas y tornados ha asolado varios estados del medio oeste estadounidense, como Misuri, Kansas, Oklahoma y Wisconsin, y se espera que prosiga avanzando en las próximas horas.

Pero el tornado más devastador es el que sufrió la localidad de Joplin, de unos 50.000 habitantes. A su paso por el casco urbano dejó una franja de destrucción de 9 kilómetros de largo y uno de ancho.

I was able to go and deliver food and clothes! many people ive met there told us their stories of what happened..to their bathtub was the only thing that was left, to many others :(.... check out Zombielove95 she has a video of all the destruction and the whole group of us.

@awallz331 Then don't pay attention to god or anything but don't resent him it's nature taking it's course I live close to joplin and I've seen the destruction but pointing fingers doesn't help. It's a tragic event that we will recover from in time.
