Remove the HD from the title, it's misleading.

This movie is probably the reason I even watch or consider watching movies that were made in the 50's. My opinion of movies in grey has completely changed. I used to think these kind of movies were bad due to the bad acting and directing ect but I can see now I was a total idiot.

if you have the chance and if you haven't already. watch 'city lights' by charlie chaplin. it's a silent movie, and actually when it was made sound was already a common feature for movies but chaplin decided for esthetic reasons to still make it a silent movie.

This is an epic movie. Indeed a master peace. Kurosawa made this movie after WWII. That small village symbolises Japan, the villagers symbolises Japanese people after WWII. Kurosawa tries to cross the message that Japanese should think of their homeland and try to protect and rebuild that by returning to their culture symbolised by 7 Samurai. That's why in the movie the Samurai leader says evacuate the farmhouses outside the village. We have to focus on the village. This is a very deep movie.
