Duncan Wong in Ottawa, 30 Aug 2009. Hosted by Adishesha Yoga Zone (www.adishesha.com) and Mountain Goat Yoga (mountaingoatyoga.com). Song: "Growing Pains" by Mary J Blige. There should be a link to buy the song on i-Tunes just above the Comments section.

I promised video, so here you go! Class rocked, it was grueling and awesome :-) In this video, we're taking a (much needed and deserved) break while Master Wong demonstrates the sequence straight through. That's me in the back trying to keep up :-))

"Duncan Wong is the creator of the internationally practiced Yogic Arts synthesis system, an organic movement technology that interlinks Vinyasa yoga flow mechanics with Buddhist mixed martial arts stance structures, and practical mudra applications, Thai bodywork healing therapy, Pilates core alignment principles, and modern dance with urban break beats; resulting in the Yogic Arts sacred body temple experience".

  • This kind of class would not be for me...

  • @cirqueraven91 that's ok! to me, the important thing is to choose which postures feel good to you, and to do them - at whatever pace that feels good to you. listening to your body is yoga. i like the pace because it keeps me from thinking about 12 other things, no time! :-)

  • @ VoodooUprising Yoga is also about non-judgement, awareness, acceptance and growth. Everything is yoga: breathing is yoga, lying down flat on your back is yoga, being able to put lotion on your entire back by yourself, that's yoga. If we do not pass on what we have learned, if we do not expand on it, grow, modify it, and make it our own, we stagnate. To each his own path.

  • @GoldenThaiYoga Modification is fine, improvement and expansion are great. But doing so without ego is most important.

  • @joscofe agreed

  • duncan is a very good hatha/ashtanga mixed with kuk sool won practitioner but the true ancient yogi masters had always taught that yoga was to overcome the ego, still the mind and unite with the all. unfortunately, yoga has become a trendy sport for very the well to do and mostly white pseudo hippies. om shanti om

  • @joscofe true that!

  • a little bit too much ego in it for me...

  • So intriguing and inspiring...how I would love to take a class from him...

  • dunc's 'yogic arts' style grows on you- took a workshop with him at Kripalu a few years back- his transformation since then is awesome- thanks so much for sharing!
