Mechwarrior4: Mercs - Overlord

The Lyran Alliance has lived beneath the tyranny of my sister Katherine for far too long. We are here to reclaim the throne of Tharkad and correct the errors that have plagued the Lyran state. It is for this reason alone that I have returned from self-imposed exile. I pray that we are not too late to right the course of this troubled ship.

One of my favourite MW4 Mercs missions is taking down the Overlord dropship. It's an all-out-war, with lots of ordnance flying both directions. In the chaos and heat, teamwork is your best protection. Even their toughest defences are no match to the solid wave of Atlas they're about to face.

Difficulty on this video is very easy . Overlord is impossible on vet and elite. There is absolutely no way to win. Even took me 13 tries to beat it on elite while using INVINCIBILITY. You can still lose if davion gets killed, which only takes 15-20 seconds from time he spawns. Listen to the audio after nav beta ... "Stay out of 600 meters of the Overlord and you'll be out of range". BS on veteran and elite, dropship range is 1000 meters and it can actually kill any mech in one shot. Impossible

Greetings,

the difficulty here was veteran (instant action). This means that I had unlimited chassis and weapon resources, making the mission easiar than in the campaign mode. Unfortunately back then I didn't have a suitable campaign save.

The overlord boasts multiple light gauss rifles (1200m range), as you can see after 4:30. In addition to this it has lasers which range 600m. When engaging the monster be sure to walk sideaways to avoid the worst of the gauss fire.

i just noticed you hud looks different from mine, especially your mech's hitzones (schematic view of the mech for me) and the reticule. how come?

@starflame10 dude i know! Took me 4 freaking tries to beat this mission!! The hard part about it is that Peter always dies and the dropship always kills me!! What mech you use i would def use the Fafnir or the Atlas on this??

yeah i prefer Warlords to Atlas', because of their overall more capable use than an atlas, but to each is own.

Respond to this video... deffece, and you should see a longbow on sensors, take a pot shot at him and draw him toward your team. THat will draw off about 5 mechs from Petters lance and give him time. From there just do your thing and take everything out. You still might need to go help him after you draw away the some of the mechs from him. It is do able, but it is very hard. I did it with no cheats. Using this method I can now beat it on elite.

I found a way you can beat it on elite. It took me a while but I found a way. I always found the problem to be if you powered your way through, Peter Davion Died becouse you were to slow, and if you ran up the hill to defend you would end up dieing. I ran this in a Loki (Hellbringer) with ECM and BAP, and my lace mate were in assualt class Mechs. If once you beat off the Nav Alpha defenders, if you just let your two lances cover you, run up to the top of the hill left of the stroung point deffe

Overlord on elite settings becomes a game of luck. I became so frustrated with Peter Duck walking into certain death (for the 17th time) that I fragged him a couple of times myself. The trick is to join up with Peter Steiner-DeathWish as quickly as possible.
