NSHS 2009 Thanksgiving Day football game, appearing in order left to right in first semicircle John Passarini, Steve Parnell (pony tail), Nicky Parnell (wht hat), George Winkler (blk leather jkt), Don Sutherland (glasses), Mark Young (mustache), Shawn Daley (orange hat), John Connolly next, Freddy Virgilio (handlebar white mustache).

Steve Parnell, MD stellar multi-sport NSHS athlete, Quarterback of the 1965, 8-1 team that lost Class B state championship on the 1 foot line as time ran out against undefeated Revere High School. Steve Parnell starred at UMASS was all Yankee Conference and played one year with the Atlanta Falcons as well. Steve Parnell, Coach Kojoyian, and John Passarini, PhD recant the events of this game 44 years later. John Passarini another multi sport All-Scholastic star at NSHS and played football and wrestled at UCONN. John later coached wrestling at Waltham High School and his star heavyweight was Freddy Smerlas, before Freddy had a great career at Boston College and was a All-Pro for the Buffalo Bills.

The center on the 65 team was was Dick Aghababian not shown in these pictures but earned his MD as well and played ball at Harvard. The center, the quarterback, and the fullback all received their doctorships in medicine and academia. The 1965 team was a stellar group of men both athletically and academically. One of the finest teams to wear Blue and Orange and one of the most driven and committed to excellence of my fathers 58 year career as a coach! The 1959, 1960 teams of Westboro High School had this same magic starring Harry Crump, Boston College great, and the first fullback for the Boston Patriots, Ronny Crump part of these teams went on to captain the Worcester Polytech Univ. gridsters.

How did I forget Mark Young from beginning of video. Volumes can be written about him, a early 60's multisport star at NSHS and YALE, setting and breaking numerous track records at both schools, played football at Yale as well.

Was assistant track and field coach for the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Yale indoor/outdoor womens track coach, garnering several Ivy track championships, and coached 13 women to All-American status on the YALE cross-country team...and much more!
