  • if a chelsea player runs out on his contract, can they extend their contract or does the ban only apply to new players? i also saw on the mirrorfootball site that ljungberg could return to the gunners. is he still good?

  • MFTV: Hello The Tak, if a Chelsea player's contract runs out, he can indeed extend it but he would be in a very strong position as Chelsea cannot bring any new players in as things stand. And Yes, Ljungberg is still being linked with Arsenal but he is not the player he once was.

  • Hi Darren,

Good show again. Thanks for reading my message. I just want to clarify that I wasn't having a pop at Rooney as I agree he has been exceptional over the last 18 months and has matured tremendously. I was simply mystified why Eduardo was receiving such a rough time of it. I guess its going to blow over now because of the Chelsea situation. To be honest it serves Chelsea right. Smaller clubs need to be protected against being pillaged by the bigger clubs. Have a good weekend

  • MFTV: You too Mohaned, thanks for your message. It should be pointed out that Rooney has claimed he has never dived. Make of that what you will...

  • They are banned from registering new players. So yes they can extend the contracts of current players.

  • Therein lies the problem. The actual term dive needs to be defined. Initiating the act of falling before making contact with an opponent with the express intention of gaining an advantage constitutes diving. Under this definition Rooney dived. On a separate note referees need to award penalties in favour of players who are fouled in the box but dont go down. Too often if players dont fall theatrically when fouled they dont get penalties.

  • Man U.

  • Stupid argument. Rooney didn't even dive, and Ronaldo rarely dived in the Champions League.

Can I just go on record as saying I'm so dissappointed in how United have done business this summer.

  • Thanx for reading my message. Hannah united fan.

  • Just because tapping up is common doesnt mean Chelsea shouldn't be reprimanded for thier actions.

    Sean in Dublin

  • Well done Fifa!

  • Interesting especially for a club with money to spend. Could be a bit too harsh but doing this to one club could scare other clubs and prevent it from happening in the future. It will be very interesting how Chelsea react and more than likely they will appeal, can't wait to see how they manage without being able to transfer.
