How things look from the cab of an ambulance and fire engine using lights and siren. Why you need to pull to the right and stop when an emergency vehicle approaches. Bellingham Fire Department Bellingham, Washington

  • I hate to disappoint anyone, but they are real lights on a real engine. Part of what you see is from a camera mounted on the dash of an ambulance responding to a call. The segment about pulling to the right required multiple takes from different angles, so we did this as a demo on a quiet street.

  • First off, it is the law to pull over; second, purhaps it is your house or loved one we are in route to save..... Think about it.

  • Actually in some states (like mine) the officer DOES NOT have to see the violation. As long as the driver of the Emergency Vehicle (including a volunteer in his or her own vehicle) is willing to sign a complaint, you can be issued a citation for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.

  • Good calm commonsense commentary, unlike some of the comments.

Guys doing a hard job, just common courtesy to let them do it. It is however sadly missing these days.

  • i agree i bet if that fucker got into an accident or his house was burning he would want us there quick now wouldnt he that fuckin errogant cocky ass son of a bitch pisses me off

  • have a nice lonely death.

  • haha dont worry we all have good insurance

  • Here's the fun part, you know those fun little radios we have in all of our rigs, we can use those to communicate with each other, oh, and also call ahead to state troopers to pull your stupid ass over. Whenever we have a call, we have troopers that follow infront of us, or behind us, or relatively close by, just to get idiots like you. You're a cops dream catch, because you're so ignorant you'd do it over, and over, and over, and over, and over again!

  • Here is the problem with it, a driver of emergency vehicle can't make positive id. They see you maybe for 1-2 sec. Being that register owner is not required to tell cops who was driving his/her vehicle and the fact that ticket is issued to the driver and not the vehicle, as simple statement of it wasn't me driving will get ticket thrown out.

  • And in case you doubt me... I have been in the emergency vehicle seen the other vehicle pass the EV, the EV driver called it in and was willing to sign. On return saw that the Sheriffs Office and State Patrol had the vehicle stopped and he was issued a citation... No Law Enforcement Officer has seen anything involved in the incident.

  • It's nice that you have police department on your side, but unless police officer witness the violation no citation can be issued. Understand that citation is issued to the driver of the vehicle and not the register owner.

  • you say you wont move for an emergency vehicle because its not a cop, you have to remember we have the police dept on our side, in fact, there are many police officers in mine, and alot of other departments.were there to save lives, whats it gonna hurt losing 10 seconds of your life to move for a fire truck, or ambulance, if you would go and join a dept, you would know what a great feeling it is, i have saved a life before, theres no greater feeling than that, and the bumper thing was for fun.
