Not true. I live in Germany, also free health care, and I just paid 2,000 euros for the procedure. It's only free if its necessary. Stick out ears is not something that has to be corrected.
I am 1 week past my surgery, and while it was more painful that I had thought, I am so happy I did it!!

Man, my ear destroyed my self esteem and made me a very closed up person for many years of my life. Only recently, in my final years of high school have I opened up and regained my confidence. Luckily as people grow up they mature and noone said anything about my ears for a couple of years now. Perhaps I'll still get the surgery done one day just to completely get rid off the years of ridiculing and emotional scarring my ears caused.

I think I'm going to get this done, I'm sick of everyone making fun of me, it SUCKS. People don't realize how lucky they are to have normal ears, everywhere we go, we get made fun of and get stared at. It aint fair!!! This needs to be covered by insurance cuz this causes some serious psychological damage to children like me.

@joevicentini LOL.. Awww thats so cute
I have a question. When the surgeon pins the ear back i've seen some cases that the top part sticks out or looks elf like. Does that mean that was a mistake from the surgeon. Because i've seen other cases and th ears look naturall after the surgery. Hope you understand what im trying to say. Please reply as quick as you can. Thank you.

@ecalb1 Ears should look natural after surgery. I suspect you're describing what is more commonly known as a "telephone ear" deformity (which is sometimes limited to the upper half only). Avoiding that look requires a certain awareness by the surgeon pre-op since certain anatomical configurations are more prone to that. It *can*, however, be avoided. It can also often be corrected post-op as an in-office procedure.

Just got mine does 3 days ago! Quite pleased with the results but let me tell you they're SWOLLEN like mad! I have a question though, I hear sometimes these ears can 'protrude' back to their normal positions? Is this true? I do hope it lasts a life-time. I know as you get older cartilage starts to grow, etc. But I hope they don't pop back out! :'(

@BootboyJohnny The ears should not be expected to "pop back out" unless the sutures used to reshape the ear are broken, extrude, or tear through. The procedure is designed to last a lifetime otherwise. Enjoy your new look!
