As a child I had a skyrocket go off up into the roof of my mouth as I leaned over the Coke bottle it stood in. Luckily I woke up in my folks home, not seriously hurt, but that was something you never forget. Please for everyone's sake including pets, let's hope you act safely next Canada Day and keep everyone well away from your pyrotechnics.

Since this day, the dog hasn't been allowed loose at fireworks displays. As you pointed out, it wasn't safe for the dog so he decided to confine her. She is dejected every time she misses out.
