Security sources claim that 2700 LTTE terrorists have so far been killed in confrontations in the Wanni. The operations are continuing for several months. Our representative visiting the Wanni said the terrorists have suffered serious harm.

Anura Dorakumbura said government troops are advancing from the Wanni to the North, attacking the terrorists. The soldiers said they are determined to reach Killinochchi. Their operations are continuing under a prudent leadership. The 58th Brigade advancing from Mannar had killed 540 terrorists within three months. Another 416 suffered injuries. The 58th Brigade said 601 tigers died in their attacks. The troops have consolidated their attacks against the enemy. Soldiers of the 58th Brigade had succeeded in killing 148 terrorists from the 1st of this month up to date. Three tractors transporting tigers from the North towards the Wanni Forward Defence Line, were attacked last night. It was a success. The 57th Brigade had also achieved successful results. The total number of terrorists killed in 10 months was 2100. They have even given information on 1000 tigers, who had been killed. According to our representative, soldiers in the Wanni battlefront referred to their determination to crush all enemies and liberate the motherland from the terrorists.
