"To Make Amends" - Song of the Week #10 (12 Mar 09)

This song comes from more of a soul/R&B background, though that was by no means intentional on my part; that's just how it came out. What was intentional was my experimentation with the form in an attempt to break away from the more common A-B-A-B-C-B structure so prevalent today.

It was written as a very personal and private conversation and it was torture to write it, but I felt I had to. Other songs have been painful to work with, but not like this one; after I finished it, I wasn't sure that I ever wanted anyone to hear it and contemplated erasing every trace of it. A word from my brother Eric convinced me that it may speak to others in a way unique to themselves and their own experience, so I've come to accept it on it's own merit.

Thanks for sharing this. I think a lot of us have felt this way at some point in our lives.  Great song.
