Yes on Prop 8 Ad - Undecided?

Don't tread on me, out-of-control Judiciary. Government of the people, by the people, and for the people shall not perish from the earth.

California has a Proposition 8 on the ballot Nov 4th defining marriage as between a man and a woman. Proposition 8 isn't an issue about "rights". It is about preserving the definition of "marriage" as between a man and a woman. Gay people can do what they want, and they can even enjoy civil benefits through domestic partnerships. But that isn't marriage. Proposition 8 is about defining marriage. Gay people should be treated with kindness and respect, like anyone. Gay people aren't the issue here nor the problem. The problem is that 4 arrogant San Fransisco lawyers in black robes sitting in their ivory tower overturned the express will of a clear majority (61%) of California citizens when those judges ruled by fiat and illegally legislated from the bench when they unilaterally redefined marriage. Prop 8 allows the citizens of California to say no to Judicial Activism and no to Judicial Tyranny. There are elements of the judiciary that are way out of control and are endangering the balance of power in our republic by getting involved in "legislating" from the bench. This has got to stop. Voting yes on Prop 8 will help put those elitist judges back in their place and let them know they cannot arrogantly overrule the will of the people in a matter as fundamental to the future of civilization as the bedrock institution of marriage. That is something important enough that it should not be left to 4 elitist judges to impose by fiat.

@CMSonYT Maybe you can educate me then. Obviously you can't argue that Prop 8 violated state law because it amended California's constitution. Thus, your argument hinges on the idea that Prop 8 violated the federal Constitution. Do you believe there is a fundamental constitutional right requiring society to recognize the marriage between anyone and anyone, without any restrictions? That seems dubious and I suspect that even you are ok w/ some restrictions (e.g. no bigamy). What are the limits?

if you knew anything about the legal system you'd realize the judiciary is very complicated and quite powerful. a vote, even a direct one doesn't strip judiciary of its power to repeal lower law if it conflicts with higher law such as the state or US constitution. as to WHY that is...well that's complicated and would require actually reading a lot of shit.

What happened to democracy? The people of California vote for traditional marriage, judge overrules them. Californians vote again by amending their constitution, judge overrules them again. Why do we give the courts more power than the voice of the people?

@KyokugenRyo That is a lame defense. Reproduction is not ALL that matters you know. There are millions of straight couples out there who marry soley for love,not to squeeze out some kid. There are also millions of straight couples who WILL reproduce. Either way,marriage is not about reproduction. Its about love. Why deny 2 women or 2 men that?
