@Mechagnomics left hand pizzicato, one of the most difficult violin technicalities. it's a virtuosic technicality that is used in most of Paganini's music, adding texture and variety to the music, also a very interesting visual component.

@Mechagnomics It's called "left hand pizzicato": the strings are plucked (and fingered) with the left hand, and occasionally the bow hits the string for a note or two also (in place of the pluck). The very beginning alternates plucks and bow "touches" and the descending scale at the end is all left had pizz. I've played this; it's not a hard technique once you get the appropriate calluses! LOL!
