This a Dell Axim x30 trying to boot Windows 98 via pDosbox. It will try to boot but then it goes back to command prompt. I think that the problem is that it cannot run HIMEM.SYS, so therefore you might have to emulate a 386 or higher processor in order for it to boot. But that still might not be able to boot windows or it might just run very slowly. I am using the DBS program that is used to run windows in Dosbox on a psp. But I am still trying to figure out how to run windows on a ppc. If you have any questions on how I did this, just mail me.

  • What type of Dell Axim do you have, X3/X30/or X3i?

How did you get the theme like that?

  • @BV93630360JUAN x30, i got it on ebay about two years ago for $50

  • is a 386 not to slow for win98?

  • no, 386 is a type of processor, the mhz is what matters, this one is only running at 4mhz

  • i know, but i mean that this typ of processor is too slow for win98, or isn´t it?

  • well, there isnt enough cpu cycles to make it run faster and the 386 processors are a type of processor that do so many processes at at a time(calculations, commands, instructions, ect.), 286 type processors cant run hi memory processes like 386 processors can, 286 cant run himem.sys for win98 and other windows os', 386 isnt too slow, it is only enough to run one program to allow hi memory programs to run, basically the whole os, i dont know what the others are for though.( 486, 586, 686, ect.)

  • Now, what would be really funny would be if you could install ActiveSync within the emulated Windows 98, and sync the device with itself. LOL

  • link? :)

  • Can someone tell me where dosbox for winmo is

  • wow you started up windows 98 and got a blue screen of death instantly...

    nice progress

nah, just kidding, lol, but seriously where is windows 98?

  • @JHx86 Well with Windows 98 running via Dosbox I wonder if Win98 games will run on it like Grim Fandango since I know that game won't run in Windows Xp, Vista, or 7.

  • @morq13 It can use 64 MB RAM normally, although you may even give 128 MB if you want if your phone/PDA has enough free memory. Isn't that enough for DOS games???

  • It is also possible that your PDA doesn't have enough (free) memory to run Win98. It needs at least 128 MB of free RAM and 64 MB given to DOSBox from it in its configuration file. It also needs at least 300 Mhz of CPU, so if you don't have these, it surely won't run properly.

  • can you send me a link to find dos box

complete(beacuse i cant make it run)or can you send me the aplication

  • @JHx86

4? Impossible. The dell axim x30 runs on 624 mhz.

4 mhz is less than a TI-83 Plus graphing calculator.
