This is my 2nd composition which I wrote on Sunday and Monday hoping to upload it for Halloween. It's a day late, but I hope you like it, even though it's a sad tale. Don't judge the voice, I don't want to be a singer!. Please open 'more info' to see the lyrics.

The idea is that on a cold late Halloween night I am trying to get home in the mist. I meet two spirits on the way, pointing. Generally we think of spirits as wanting to do evil, but tonight they actually wanted to see me safely home, and the evil was the drunk driver (spinning road) who knocked me down.

The clock ticks for twelve
That's the time that we will tell
When the Moonlight is dimmed by the clouds
In the dark you may find
Creatures that aren't our kind
Who could take away your soul, and never give.....

On a cold October night
As the thin air steals the light
Not enough for you to see where you're walking
If you squint your eyes and see
There's a shadow of a Lady
Who is pointing to the left side of the street

But it was hard not to be deceived by those eyes
So I covered my face with my hands and walked on by

(Chorus)
There's a time and a place to believe you
But this time, I don't think I should
There's evil in the air this evening
So if you'll excuse me on this cold night of Halloween

I can't see nor feel a thing
But hear the voices in the wind
Whispering "follow our path tonight"
When the wind passes away
I see a young man faded grey
Who is pointing to the right side of the street

But he put me in a trance, he did
So I shook my head, turned away and off I hid

(Chorus)

I couldn't see the road ahead
Til two headlights knocked me dead
And my soul was taken away, never to return
As I rise above the trees
I see the young man and the Lady
Who were pointing to the place I wanted to be

It was the time and the place to believe you
But that time has past and gone
There was evil in the air
As the blood soaked through my hair
And the driver carried on down the spinning road
There was evil in the air this evening
So if you'll excuse me, I need to guide other people home
So if you'll excuse me, I need sometime alone
So if you'll excuse me, on this cold night of Halloween

  • Haunting lyrics and a haunting melody...perfect for Halloween.

  • @Platyzoan Thanks very much. I hope everyone got the reference about the 'spinning road' which meant the driver was drunk, and the road for him was spinning.

  • Psalm 144:9

I will sing a new song unto thee, O God: upon a psaltery and an instrument of ten strings will I sing praises unto thee.

  • I was listening to the ABRSM songs for my examination when i passed by your video where by you're playing piano. Next i was suprised that you can play both piano and harp and i really admired your music talent! You could also compose such great pieces! Go Pianonist!
