You seem to forget that it was not redemption for the do over on the penalty kick that made Wambach's goal so exciting, it was Brazil's player Erika faking an injury trying to eat up time for the US but then there was extra time added. If Brazil's player would not have done that (faking an injury) then there would have not been extra time added and therefore no tying goal for Wambach. Go blame Erika for her bad decission making for faking an injury or for us USA fans we should be thanking her!

what Erica did undermined Brazil's talents and amazing road to the quarter finals THEY DIDN'T NEED THAT!

in my opinion it wasn't even her idea but most likely suggested to her by the sidelines another mistake by the coaching staff.

it's also a stretch to suggest Wambach's goal wouldn't have happened if not for extra NEITHER YOU OR ME can see alternate dimensions.... or can you ? ;)

and I agree that it was a bad idea for the coach to put Daiane in there for the penalty shootout. She already gave up the own goal, and before she even stepped up I knew that she was going to miss. Did Erika get a shot? She seems like she should have taken a penalty kick. Though I didn't like her faking injury during the quarterfinal game, karma that the USA goal came during stoppage time that was a result of time added on due to her faking that injury

Good point about the "goal gifting" on both sides.

It hard to swallow Brazil's loss with so many advantages but sometimes it's just not meant to be.

Reflecting on Erica, I'm thinking the faking was suggested to her by coaching and I'm sure the coach is regretting quite a bit.

He should've used all his substitutions and chosen different players for penalties - it was another mistake to choose Cristiane who also missed a penalty just earlier.

great game indeed - the most drama in a women's match probably since the 1999 US-China world cup final. I thought Brazil was definitely more skilled and smooth than the US, but the US had more determination and better fitness in the end. I think the game ended as it should have, the US winning on penalty kicks because they have a better keeper. Both the US and Brazil basically had a goal gifted to them, so it should have ended 1-1 I think.
