Written and performed by Becky Poole, directed by Carrie Morris, Murder, Hope is a modern performance piece based around neurological research, Appalachian murder ballads, family history and superhero mythology, presenting an impassioned collage of compelling characters who all have in common a distinct lack of balance. Utilizing short videos, choreography based around Neuroplastic therapy and creative sound design (Poole's saw playing features prominently in the piece's sound scapes) Murder, Hope shows us an off-balanced world where perceptions are second-guessed, where women are the killers instead of the victims, where we could all be Batman and where winning is complicated.
