Phillip Sear: Christmas Fantasies - 1 (See Amid the Winter's Snow )

I like to upload one or two seasonal items in December, but this year had nothing written by others in practice, owing to accompanying commitments. So here is the first of a series of five fantasies on well-known Christmas carols and hymns. The tune on which this piece is based is ' Humility ' written for this 'Hymn for Christmas Day' in 1871 by Sir John Goss (1800-80) , the 19th c British organist and composer of church music, whose greatest hit this undoubtedly was.

Outstanding piece. It uses all the wonderful shades of colour and resonations your beautiful piano has to offer. I started to imagine how this piace would also sound on a church organ, I imageine it could work too. Wondered if you had thought of making such a recording for your channel?
