Not true man, Believe it or not, I love you, as a brother and I don't even know you, but that is what is so AMAZING! It's like the love of Jesus, He knew not everyone would believe or accept Him, or even love Him, but He still loved us enough to die for us. And you ask for proof? The Bible, you may say it is just a book that was written, how can we prove it? Well same question goes for school history books. It's all about faith on the Author. Lord God Almighty. Love ya bro

@Travnuts I like it when Bonhoeffer tells us that the cross is God's truth about us. It is not a symbol of God's love and mercy, but instead a symbol of our shame and sin.

@damianimmortalcomics yes yes we've all heard of selling indulgences but thats completely irrelevant. Does the church do that anymore? no... And yes we might as well agree to disagree because whenever i refute what you say you just bring up something off topic lol.

@Gotenks712 most of the illiterate people were the poor while the vatican prospered off their money one of the popes made it legal to sin as long as you payed a fine of money, but thats beside the point im trying to make. and we might as well agree to disagree.

@damianimmortalcomics And the same goes with a statue of Mary. We dont worship her, we ask her to pray for us and be a mediator for us. And the statue is merely a visual aide. i dont need it, i wont get any more or less graces from praying in front of a statue as opposed to praying without one. Back in the middle ages, the statues were vital for those who were illiterate to have visual representation of major christian concept.

@damianimmortalcomics The purpose of the exodus paragraphs was to show that the building of statues is in the bible. So when he said the 10 commandments he clearly did not mean statues of angels. When we kneel down in front of a statue, were not praying to the statue itself as a separate entity we pray to whoever the statue is of. The commandment was speaking of creating your own god/statue and worshiping it as a separate entity. Why is that so hard to grasp?

@Gotenks712 The exodus paragraphs you gave about the golden statues, no one bows to them or prays to them so my point still stands, and the same with the nativity sets no one bows to those no one prays to those no one asks any of those examples you gave to ask god for a favor or even for help from the entity the statue represents, and the statue of the serpent no one bowed to it or even prayed to it.

@damianimmortalcomics Actually there are examples in the bible where the lord actually commands the making of statues. (e.g. Ex. 25:18–20). There are even examples of religious use of statues in the bible (Num. 21:8–9). Plus, plenty of protestant churches have nativity scenes w/ statues around christmas, so dont feed me that Idolatry crap. Its the same concept of carrying a picture of your mother or children in your wallet to remember them. Its clearly not idolatry.

@Gotenks712 have you even read the ten commandments? "thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God." exact words.

@damianimmortalcomics Well now your getting into something totally different with the statues and candles. This same argument has taken place many times over on the internet by people smarter than you and me. Hell, all u gotta do is google : "Statues vs Idols" and click on the first link. Put simply, there is a difference between thinking a piece of stone or plaster is a god and desiring to visually remember Christ and the saints in heaven by making statues in their honor.
The only ones who loved e were my friends and my family. I never saw any love coming from an unknown entity.

@MarvelExtra what do ya mean man?
bball1989 1 year ago
@bball1989 well they say God loves you. What proofs we have for that? I only experienced positive emotions coming from PEOPLE.
MarvelExtra 1 year ago
@MarvelExtra oh i feel ya man. i used to think that also because I wanted physical proof he loved me, but then i realized the cross is that. it was a historical event and so its an objective reality of his love. For God to send his own son and absorb all our sins on that cross is mind blowing, and then look to us and call us his children and promise to never leave us is amazing. Also the attributes of love seen in other people come from Him too. He shows us his grace in everything
