I hope Phil doesn't mind me posting these next two videos... This first one is his tribute to his sister Cyd who drowned in Lough Swilly (Lake of Shadows). Phil knew that Sinéad O'Connor was the only person to sing the lyrics, and so it is her that makes an appearance on this track. She has a gorgeous voice, and manages to do justice to this very emotional piece.

Cyd was a Councillor for people with drug/alcohol issues
She got a call, on the afternoon of her son's 10th birthday party, from one of her cases. She was found a couple of days later in the Swilly, her car had to be lifted out by crane... With Phil standing on watching.
The addict she'd gone to see had, according to Phil (in an interview with Éamon Dunphy on RTÉ 27/09/2009), fixated on her and ended up driving her car, with her still in it, into The Swilly.

  • This is the only song I've ever seen with this many views and no dislikes...

Even the trolls can't hate on this song, that's saying something. :)

  • @iPointless It's impossible to dislike this iP... It's so emotional, I defy anyone to dislike such a sad and heartbreaking story...

    Thank you for the comment.

  • @iPointless I CANNOT believe someone dislikes this..... WHAT posesses someone to 'dislike' such a beautiful piece of music???

It saddens me that someone could not like this... By disliking this they're hating the story of the song....

  • @GlasgowCeltic88 lets just hope it was an accident XD

  • @StarKnight95 It wasn't an accident. She was a Councillor for people with drug/alcohol issues

  • So haunting and gentle. I love his music. It is so emotional and touches me deeply. I have all his music. If you like his music you must get his album. Words & music. "The town I loved so Well" ,"The Old Man". About his father. Also the song Steal Away. That will touch the hearts of those who loved their Home town. My heart goes out to him for his loss..His music is timeless.

  • @LLH151

Wow, thank you for such a beautiful comment. You're right his music IS timeless and so emotional... If I can just correct you on one tiny matter though... 'The Old Man' was written for Ted Furey; Finbar, Eddie, George and Paul's (R.i.P.) father.

Thank you for taking the time to watch my videos.

  • This song brings tears to my eyes, this is a majestic piece of music, Sinéad's singing really manage to step back just alittle and work in perfect harmony with the beautiful piano play... I so wish I could play this piece on my piano.

  • That is the most saddest song i've ever heard >'=
