@kyotokombat It is a great song, but "the first truly punk-inspired alternative rock song"? In 1982? What planet was that on? That was two years after Ian Curtis died. Dream Syndicate were hugely influenced by bands like Wire, Magazine, Joy Division and The Sound, who were making stuff like this in the late 70s. This is classic post-punk, but it's by no means the first.

I always tortured my non-punk husband with DS, 999, Beck etc and he finally came around about 5 years later. I wouldn't stop and he finally started LISTENING....

This is song was ahead of it's time when it came out in 1982. It was like the Velvets and Stooges that came before them....but different at the same time. This was the first truly punk-inspired alternative rock song.
