Climate Change is not just about polar bears: People are already dying because they can no longer grow their own food. In some countries, yields from rain-fed agriculture could drop by as much as 50 percent by 2020 because of rising temperatures, increasing droughts and floods.

In August 2008 ActionAid Bangladesh started a climate change adaptation programme with the support of Embassy of Denmark.

Asiya Begum volunteered to be part of the experiment, and was given three different varieties of seeds to test. The seeds were sourced from Bangladesh Rice Research Institute in Dhaka and she was trained to use the seeds and inputs to get better yield.
