March 1994 South Africa. On the day of the first free election Lambert Benade will turn 21, and Uncle Treppie promises him the girl of his dreams. But, in this hilariously horrendous tragi-comedy, as a new world is born, two members of the wild, crazy and destitute family are destined to die.

Thx rfwoolf. For more info go to trimofmovie dot blogspot dot com. We're shooting now. The film is based on the novel Triomf by Marlene Van Niekerk, about a SA white family in the town called Triomf, built on top of a town called Sofiatown. Sofiatown was bulldozed & 60,000 black residents were "removed" to make way for the white neighborhood of Triomf. The film takes place on the eve of the first SA Democratic vote. It's darkly funny and tragic.

Very very interesting stuff. Lionel Newton's great as usual - what a fantastic actor. Unfortunately this preview says very little about this movies plot (granted I don't speak Afrikaans very well) so it's far too early to judge. From what I've scene with regards to the dramatic elements, the media, the cinematography etc it's all looking very very good (that is to say, that without a good script and a good story it would be a shame).
