This scene, cut from the release version of "DROP Squad" is not only one of my favorites, but one of the seminal moments in the film that showed the relationship of the DROP Squad to the community, their elders and the growing concern that everyone involved will be arrested. The late Paul Benjamin gives a great performance (along with Ving Rhames, Eric Payne and Crystal Fox) which was another reason I was distressed it was deleted from the film. His delivery of the line "When Marcus (Garvey) spoke, the people went willingly. I saw him turn a dream into the Black Star Line and he never had to deprogram nobody." That line alone is representative of the collective memory jog we were attempting to give the black community with the film. Some things should never be forgotten. I'm glad to finally be able to present this scene to fans of the film. The complete Directors cut will be posted in the coming weeks and your opinions are welcomed.
