This is the full race 1 from the famous Imola 2002 weekend. Coverage is live from Australian channel Fox Sports. Commentary is provided by Charlie Cox and Steve Parrish (who now commentate MotoGP on the BBC, as well as Charlie Cox being an ex-host on Top Gear Australia).

This is one of the most famous rounds of World Superbikes of all time. Edwards and Bayliss ended their year long battle with some of the best racing ever seen in the World Superbike series. In my opinion, this race was the last before the death of the old World Superbikes (with Bayliss, Edwards and Haga moving to MotoGP and Corser moving to the Foggy Petronas team), but in 2008 we started to see the rebirth of the series.

This is part 1 of 9, starting at the warm up lap and going until the start of lap 5. Thanks to racer69 for providing me with the DVD this race came from.

  • Monza 2011 WSB is the only thing that comes even remotely close to this epicness. MotoGP can shove it imo.

  • The best WSBK weekend ever. I miss V-twins sound :(

  • I would do this any day- all those nascar fans are missing out on the skill it takes to do more then left turns.

  • @tikitxiki ... according to my research in Europe it is known as a VTR 1000. In the US it's known as an RVT1000R. I personally think it makes more sense to call it a VTR (V-Twin) 1000R (with an R at the end to denote the sport variant of the Honda V Twin... opposed to the VTR 1000F) especially because the US has a VFR (V-Four). I like consistency so... why couldn't we stick to the VXX naming scheme opposed to the random RVT?

Anyway... the complete correct name IS RVT / VTR 1000R RC-51.

  • @Mute7786 isnt it a vtr 1000?

  • makes me proud to own an RC51 =D

  • I would give my left nut to have been in Imola on this Sunday....

  • @zoine99 piiss off
