Bradenton Beach is the southern most city on Anna Maria Island. Perfect turquoise water from the Gulf Coast meets wide beaches here. Coquina Beach, a 96-acre public park, is a great place to get in touch with nature. It was founded by the famous Flying Wallendas in 1946.
Anna Maria Island is a unique treasure in Florida.
Only seven miles long and has white sand beaches it's entire distance on the Gulf side and beautiful bay views of Tampa Bay, Anna Maria Sound, Palma Sola Bay on the east side.
The first thing tourists notice is the absence of high rise condos stifling the landscape and lack of fast food restaurants. Consequently, one gets the old Florida island feel long lost on other barrier islands.
