It should be something your know a lot about, and it needs to be something you're interested in. However, the biggest mistake that a newbie can make is by trying to teach people Internet marketing.

Let's face it, you don't know anything about lead generation, about getting traffic, about any of the fundamental principles that will help you to make big money online. So, how can you teach other people to make money online? If you haven't made at least $50,000 by Internet marketing yourself, you shouldn't be trying to tell other people how to do it. It's not just disingenuous; it's a waste of your time.

People can only relate to success. They want to know that you know what you're talking about before they trust you. For example, would you go to see an Intern if you needed a brain tumor removed? Of course not! You'd want a highly skilled neurosurgeon, who had done the procedure before, not someone that really isn't that qualified. Interns know a great deal about medicine by the time they're Interns, and you probably know a bit about Internet marketing, too, but are you a skilled professional? Probably not.

When picking your niche, try to think of something that you're passionate about. What is or was your career? What hobbies do you have? What has been a burning passion of yours? Maybe it's even something you were interested in as a kid, that fell by the wayside because the pressures of being an adult didn't leave time for the activity. Whatever it is... THAT should be your niche.

Why? Because you're going to run into roadblocks. You're going to find that making money online isn't as easy as some people out there tell you it is. It takes hard work and study, just like any other profession. And when you hit the wall, you need something that you love so that you won't lose your focus. You want to wake up and be ready to hit the keyboard every single day. If you have something you love pushing you forward, that will be the best possible niche for you.
