Temple Israel in Tulsa was the first synagogue built in the state of Oklahoma. No longer used as a temple, it is now being renovated by Kevin Stephens Design group as an arts and culture center as well as a center for sustainable development.
we're doing some amazing work with land legacy and sustainable tulsa to keep moving this renovation project forward and turning it into a center for sustainability and innovation!
we are looking to do residential on the parking lot on Cheyenne between 14th and 15th and the synagogue would become a center for education on sustainability and a place for showcasing arts groups that don't have a home. Thanks for your well wishes.
Awesome! I really was convinced it was a gonner from the looks of things. Are you still thinking residential eventually? I seem to recall that's what they'd said on the news last year. Doesn't seem to be much parking around there, but I know there are always ways of dealing with things that come up.
We are actually working with the Dallas Office of the Environmental Protection Agency. They are doing a phase 1 and phase 2 study for a clean up plan. We have to wait until they are done with their reports before we can do anything. However, we are planning on preserving the walls and tying them to a new steel structure we will build inside.

Now that it's burned to the point it can't possibly used, any idea when it's going to be torn down?
